It’s worse than that, he’s gay Jim!

George Takei, who played helmsman Hikaru Sulu on the television show Star Trek is gay. In an interview with Up Your Alley magazine, a biweekly publication covering the gay and lesbian community in Los Angeles (but mostly West Hollywood), the 68-year-old actor said he considers himself as “having been out for quite some time.”"I’ve been telling people for nearly 20 years that I was gay” said Takei. “But the response I always got was ‘we know you’re gay, George, you’re a Trekkie.’ I would tell them I preferred the company of other men, but they would just say ‘who doesn’t?.’ I found the only way to get my point across was to show them home movies of me having sex with other men. Even then they didn’t always get it right away and would compliment me on my acting performance. Until the money shot montage.”
Takei says that accepting his homosexuality was difficult but inevitable. “I was in denial for a very long time” explained Takei. “I went into acting to meet women. But after attending my twentieth Star Trek convention, it became clear the only way I was going to get any action was to kill Shatner or switch teams. It’s been nothing but nerd orgies every since.”
“Of course” added Takei, “it can get a little weird, like when you find yourself in the middle of a Vulcan circle jerk or a Klingon pig roast. Don’t get me wrong, the costumes are a real turn on. But when they start yelling things in Klingon like ‘nga’chug qab bang‘, you have to ask yourself why you ever agreed to webcast it.”
